Will you be able to survive in New Tokyo?
Year 2130. New Tokyo is a labyrinth of steel, neon, and despair. Megacorporations control every corner of the city, the streets boil with gangs and mercenaries, and the Cyberspace is an ocean of secrets that no one should uncover.
The city never sleeps. Its neon lights glow beneath a polluted sky. Among endless skyscrapers and damp alleyways, time is bought with implants, and freedom is trafficked like a forbidden substance. The Kenpeitai agents patrol tirelessly, but they fear the mercenaries, hackers, and rebels who dare to defy the system imposed by the Great Empire of Japan.
In the midst of this environment, living within the vast metropolis of New Tokyo, you are a bounty hunter whose identity remains hidden in the shadows. Your only loyalty is to your next mission… and to survival in a world where death may await around every corner.
But deep within you burns a dream that feels almost impossible to achieve: escaping Earth and emigrating to Mars. Every assignment, every betrayal, and every victory brings you a little closer to that future… or may condemn you to lose everything. Mars is your only hope, the promise of a new life, far from the iron grip of the megacorporations.
In New Tokyo 2130, every decision matters, every shadow hides an enemy, and every mistake can erase forever your one chance to flee this dying planet. In this gamebook, your destiny is written through your choices. You will move through a world where alleyways whisper in muffled voices, while the boundary between the human and the artificial has already disappeared forever. Will you accomplish your objectives and gather what you need to escape, or will you become lost in a city that devours all who inhabit it?
Five Volumes + Setting Book
This gamebook is not a linear journey. Instead, it is a living labyrinth. To navigate it, you will need all five volumes that make up the saga, since the missions, encounters, and secrets of New Tokyo are distributed among them. At any moment, the narrative will force you to jump from one volume to another, following the paths your character chooses.
In addition, there is a sixth complementary book: the setting book of New Tokyo 2130. It is not necessary to play, but it is highly recommended, as it expands the city, its corporations, its districts, and its secrets in greater detail. You can obtain it in print or download it for free as a PDF using the link provided on this page.
New Tokyo is not simply something to read. It is an open world on paper, a narrative map where each page may be a door… or a trap.
Main Objective
Throughout your campaign, you will always have two major objectives. The first, and most important, is to leave Earth and move to the colony on Mars. This is your great desire, and you will strive to achieve it by all possible means. Earth is slowly dying, and so are those who still remain on the planet. The future of humanity lies in new colonies on other worlds, but traveling there is only possible for those who can afford it and also have the necessary permission to leave.
Therefore, you must not only pay for your extremely expensive journey to Mars, but also save enough money to settle in your future home. This will allow you to begin a new life in the colony that the Great Empire of Japan maintains on the Red Planet, which is flourishing with activity. Thus, your first major objective in the game is to save 1,000,000 Imperial Yen. This amount includes the price of the spaceflight to Mars aboard a next-generation shuttle and the money you will need to start your new life.
Once you have accumulated that amount, you will have taken a great step toward the conclusion of your adventure, because there is still a second requirement to leave Earth. You must obtain a special permit granted by the authorities. The problem is that there is no clear way to request it: there is no form to fill out, nor any official organization to apply to. It is the Empire itself that must offer it to you, and it only does so to those citizens who have earned it through merit. Fortunately, as a bounty hunter, you are on the right path, because by completing high-profile missions that make you stand out, it is possible that you may receive the permit needed to travel to Mars.
Thus, as you successfully complete the missions you are given, certain authorities may take notice of you and consider you worthy of leaving Earth. If this happens, you will receive 1 Emigration-to-Mars Point (EMP), which you must record on your character sheet. Once you have accumulated 10 of these points, you will have earned the right to travel to Mars.
At the link below, you will find some of the illustrations created specifically for New Tokyo 2130 by the artists Eferlo and Talazbragol. There are a total of 60 images depicting different monsters born from the Abyssal Rift.
The books are filled with illustrations—more than 100 in total—all of them acquired from different artists, avoiding entirely any artificial-intelligence-generated images.
We hope you enjoy them as much as we do, because they elevate and magnify the vast universe we have created to frame the adventures you will experience in New Tokyo 2130.

Character Sheets
Your destiny in New Tokyo 2130 will not be written solely by dice and decisions. You will forge it yourself, line by line, on the detailed character sheets where your story will be inscribed as if they were scars on the skin. Every trait, skill, and choice will shape the pulse of your life in this massive metropolis.
In addition, the markets contain more than 100 unique items, relics of a collapsing world and weapons from a future already burning. Every purchase will be a gamble, and every tool may be a lifeline… or a curse.
And when steel and flesh are no longer enough, you will confront your own humanity and decide how much of it you are willing to leave behind. You will be able to choose from 60 different implants, a lethal and fascinating catalog that promises power, but demands a price. Every installation is another step in your transformation, a pact with technology that will determine who you truly are.
Here, you do not merely play. Instead, you sculpt your character in the heart of a condemned city. These sheets do not record numbers. They record your legend.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do I need all five books to play?
Yes. To play, you need the five books that make up New Tokyo 2130. You cannot play with only one, two, or three volumes, because you will use all five simultaneously, jumping from one to another. There is also a sixth book that is not necessary to play: the setting book of this cyberpunk universe, which you can obtain for free on this website, as it is included in the New Tokyo welcome pack in PDF format.
-
Where can I buy the books?
New Tokyo 2130 is not sold in Brick-and-Mortar Stores. The books are available exclusively on Amazon. You will find them at the following links:
- New Tokyo 2130, Volume I
- New Tokyo 2130, Volume II
- New Tokyo 2130, Volume III
- New Tokyo 2130, Volume IV
- New Tokyo 2130, Volume V

-
Why are the books not sold together as a single product?
For books published through Amazon, the system does not allow bundling them as a set, placing them in a box, or grouping them in any similar way. Therefore, you must add them to your cart one by one.
-
Will the books be released in digital format?
No. New Tokyo 2130 will never be sold in digital format. The only available edition is the physical one currently offered through Amazon.
-
How long can a campaign of New Tokyo 2130 last?
We estimate that a campaign may last around 30 to 50 hours (depending on your level of exploration), during which you will not read even 40% of the books’ content. This means your second playthrough will be entirely different, since you will encounter missions and challenges that did not appear during your first campaign. That run will be 100% new content, making your second playthrough a completely new experience. The same will happen with a third campaign, where most of what you face will once again be new. Furthermore, New Tokyo 2130 is highly addictive, so you will almost certainly want to play more than once, shaping your character in different ways, choosing different implants and playstyles. For example, you may become a ruthless assassin, a master of ninja stars, push implants to the limit, and so on.
-
What dice are required to play?
You will need several six-sided dice, the most common dice used in most board games (having different sizes or colors is even better). You will also need two ten-sided dice (2d10), the same type used in many role-playing games, which you can get in any specialty store. If you currently do not have these dice, do not worry. You can simulate them using cards or slips of paper with values from 0 to 9, or you may visit www.david-velasco.net. There, you will find links to various applications and websites that offer virtual dice in a quick and simple way, whether using a mobile phone, a computer, or a tablet.
